Which is the right splitboard for me and what should I pay attention to?
The more precisely you can formulate your own wishes and needs, the easier it will be for you to find your perfect board in our online shop.
- First, be clear about the conditions you will need the board for: Do you want to be able to use it in all conditions and also spend a day in the ski resort? Are you looking for a light splitboard setup for long, high alpine tours? Or are you always looking for the deepest snow?
- Which shapes might suit you?
- Do you like to jump over every hill and land switch?
- Are you looking for a board for the deepest powder days?
- What shapes do you prefer on your other boards?
- Do you have experience with different board shapes? What boards do you usually ride? What do you like about them, what don't you like?
- Which board characteristics are particularly important to you? For example, are you looking for a hard board to run on or a softer board that is also forgiving of mistakes?
- Set your budget in advance. You should not only consider the price of your desired board, but also plan for necessary accessories such as bindings, crampons or splitboard skins.
As you can see, there are quite a few things you should consider when buying a board. But don't despair if you don't have the answer to everything. Just get advice from our experts and you'll quickly find your favorite.
How long should my splitboard be?
You hear a lot of rules of thumb, such as: the board should end 5cm above the chin or something similar. With classic shapes, this information can be somewhat correct, but with many modern shapes, you end up way off.
The optimal board length can vary greatly for the same person depending on the board model and shape. For example, you should ride a “volume-shifted” snowboard, i.e. a board with a slightly wider and shorter shape, around 10 cm shorter than a classic freeride board.
