Board Finder FAQs

Which is the right splitboard for me and what should I pay attention to?

The more precisely you can formulate your own wishes and needs, the easier it will be for you to find your perfect board in our online shop.

  • First, be clear about the conditions you will need the board for: Do you want to be able to use it in all conditions and also spend a day in the ski resort? Are you looking for a light splitboard setup for long, high alpine tours? Or are you always looking for the deepest snow?
  • Which shapes might suit you?
  • Do you like to jump over every hill and land switch?
  • Are you looking for a board for the deepest powder days?
  • What shapes do you prefer on your other boards?
  • Do you have experience with different board shapes? What boards do you usually ride? What do you like about them, what don't you like?
  • Which board characteristics are particularly important to you? For example, are you looking for a hard board to run on or a softer board that is also forgiving of mistakes?
  • Set your budget in advance. You should not only consider the price of your desired board, but also plan for necessary accessories such as bindings, crampons or splitboard skins.

As you can see, there are quite a few things you should consider when buying a board. But don't despair if you don't have the answer to everything. Just get advice from our experts and you'll quickly find your favorite.

How long should my splitboard be?

You hear a lot of rules of thumb, such as: the board should end 5cm above the chin or something similar. With classic shapes, this information can be somewhat correct, but with many modern shapes, you end up way off.

The optimal board length can vary greatly for the same person depending on the board model and shape. For example, you should ride a “volume-shifted” snowboard, i.e. a board with a slightly wider and shorter shape, around 10 cm shorter than a classic freeride board.

On the product pages of our boards you will always find a size chart that gives you a rough idea of which board length might suit you:

Beschreibung, wo die Größentabellen der Boards eingesehen werden können
  • The most important criterion is that the board length matches your body weight . A board that is too big in relation to your weight can be very hard and tiring to ride. A board that is too short can result in too little floatation in deep snow or too little edge hold in hard conditions (both on the ascent and on the descent).
  • The next step is to check whether the recommended length fits your height . There are cases where the classification based on weight alone would result in a board that is as tall as you are, or a board that only reaches your chest. In such cases, you have to decide individually whether up/down sizing makes sense or whether another board would fit better.
  • One last important point is of course whether the width of the board fits your boots to avoid your heel or toes sticking out over the edges and getting caught during turns or traverses. Since boot lengths can vary greatly depending on the manufacturer and model and binding position or angle are very subjective settings, it is best to compare the waist width from the table with a board that you like to ride.

Again, just ask if you're not sure. We know our boards inside and out and can definitely help you.
